Domino launches Vx350i high-speed thermal transfer overprinter for flexible packaging

Domino’s Vx350i high-speed thermal transfer overprinter delivers high-resolution, durable codes for flexible packaging applications.

Domino Printing Sciences has introduced the Vx350i, a high-speed, high-performance thermal transfer overprinter designed for flexible packaging applications. The Vx350i is part of Domino’s Vx-Series range and features improved printhead technology, enabling faster printing with both standard and resin-based thermal transfer ribbons. This ensures the production of high-quality, scratch-resistant codes without compromising on production efficiency.

Sharmil Ghouse, Global Head of TTO and P&A at Domino, noted, “The global thermal transfer printer market, valued at approximately USD 640 million, is expected to exceed USD 1 billion by 2029, driven by consumer demand for single-serve snacks and the shift to 2D codes at the point of sale. The Vx350i has been developed with these trends in mind.”

The compact Vx350i integrates seamlessly into packaging lines, offering faster, more reliable printing with resin-based ribbons.

The Vx350i addresses the challenges of high-resolution, durable printing for flexible packaging, especially for 2D codes. Resin-based ribbons, known for their durability, have traditionally slowed down printing speeds. However, the Vx350i integrates direct-drive ribbon technology and enhanced printhead performance, enabling high-speed operation even with resin-based ribbons.

The printer comes in various formats, including a compact, single-box option that integrates the printhead and controller into one unit. This makes it easier to incorporate into both vertical and horizontal form-fill-seal machinery, particularly for food manufacturers with space constraints. The Vx350i’s compact design also allows for easy replacement of older printers, reusing existing brackets.

Tony McNulty, Chief Product Officer at Domino, commented, “The Vx350i responds to the growing need for high-resolution 2D codes on flexible packaging, offering high-speed, durable printing and a flexible solution for diverse production environments.”
