Tetra Pak honored as ‘Sustainable Company of the Decade’ at Gulfood Manufacturing 2024

Marcelo Piva and Sonya Kayani celebrate Tetra Pak’s “Sustainable Company of the Decade” award at Gulfood Manufacturing 2024.

Tetra Pak has been named the “Sustainable Company of the Decade” at the Industry Excellence 2024 Awards held during Gulfood Manufacturing 2024. The accolade acknowledges the company’s long-standing commitment to sustainability and innovation within the food processing and packaging sector.

The recognition comes as Tetra Pak continues to drive environmental initiatives, including developing sustainable packaging materials and advancing eco-friendly manufacturing practices. The company’s focus on reducing water, waste, and energy consumption in production facilities remains central to its sustainability strategy.

Through its next-generation products and recycling initiatives, Tetra Pak aims to enhance access to safe nutrition while minimizing food waste. Notably, the company is exploring alternative food sources and technologies, such as precision fermentation and plant-based products. At the event, Tetra Pak introduced the world’s first cow-free milk product made using precision fermentation, along with new plant-based milk options.

Marcelo Piva, Sustainability Director for the Middle East and Africa at Tetra Pak, emphasized the company’s mission: “This award is not just a recognition of our achievements but a reflection of our commitment to sustainability at every level of our operations. We believe that by continuously innovating and collaborating with our partners, we can make major strides toward a more sustainable future of food systems.”

Tetra Pak’s Gulfood Manufacturing booth, constructed from recycled Tetra Pak carton packages, demonstrated the company’s emphasis on recycling and circular economy practices. The two-storey structure served as a tangible example of how the company integrates environmental consciousness into its operations.

Tetra Pak remains committed to evolving alongside market and consumer demands, championing sustainable solutions in food and beverage packaging while addressing global challenges in food production.
