Nua Cosmetics, ITC Packaging, and ADBioplastics have collaborated to develop a compostable bio-based bottle made with polylactic acid (PLA) for Provei Global’s brand, Biositivo. This initiative aligns with Provei Global’s commitment to sustainable packaging and ecological baby care.
Provei Global sought a solution that combined a compostable bottle with a high-quality, eco-friendly baby bath gel. Nua Cosmetics partnered with ITC Packaging, leveraging its expertise in sustainable packaging, and ADBioplastics, known for its biodegradable materials.
“At Provei Global, with Biositivo, we are committed to creating products that integrate into the natural cycle without generating waste,” said Sébastien Favier, CEO of Provei Global. “It is a pleasure to collaborate with partners who share our vision and help us develop a product that cares for both babies and the planet.”
The outcome of the project is a 500 ml bottle with a dispenser, made from second-generation bio-based materials. This material enhances transparency, oxygen, and water vapor barriers, while also improving durability and impact resistance. Additionally, the bottle’s formulation supports organic recycling, contributing to circularity by reducing waste.
Carlos Soto, CEO of Nua Cosmetics, emphasized the technical challenges of the project. “Creating a high-quality baby gel formula compatible with compostable packaging reinforces our commitment to sustainability and the well-being of babies,” he said.
ITC Packaging has integrated lessons from the project into its new Bio2Bio packaging line, which complies with EN13432 standards. “This project allowed us to expand our sustainable portfolio, adding a bio-compostable solution to our range,” said Xavier Serrano, Director of ITC Packaging’s PET Business Unit. The Bio2Bio line ensures packaging can be composted within three months through industrial composting, complementing ITC’s broader sustainability strategy of reducing, reusing, recycling, and rethinking packaging.
