SML unveils upgraded EcoCompact II stretch wrap film line

SML’s EcoCompact® II: The latest in stretch wrap film technology.

SML has introduced the EcoCompact® II, a 2-meter stretch wrap film line with significant technical advancements and a modernized design. Maintaining the compact setup, superior components, and affordability of its predecessor, the EcoCompact® II aims to meet a variety of production needs.

The original EcoCompact® debuted at the K 2010 trade fair, offering a standardized 4-up (2,000 mm) wide stretch film line with high-quality components and a compact design at a reasonable price. “The EcoCompact® was a hot seller right from the start. Now, 14 years later, it is time for a total refinement,” said Thomas Rauscher, Product Manager at SML.

The EcoCompact® II is available in four pre-configured versions, with up to seven extruders, to cater to diverse production demands. Options include 5-layer and 7-layer versions, with an additional Nanolayer-Technology option. The line features SML’s well-known Ø 1,600 mm chill roll unit and an e-container as standard components.

A crucial element of any stretch film line is the winder. The EcoCompact® II offers three versions of SML’s W4000 winder: a 2-shaft version, a 4-shaft type, and a double turret winder with a total of 8-shafts. “The advantage of the 8-shaft winder is the ability to use 2’’ winding cores for hand rolls. This type of winder can run at very high speeds, boosting the performance of the EcoCompact® II to the next level,” Rauscher explained.

The EcoCompact® II includes the Cloeren Reflex die as standard, a leading technology for ultra-fast, hands-free die lip control, which can be upgraded with an automatic die mapping system. Additional features such as cut-resistant rollers, coreless winding, and modified edges further enhance its versatility.

“Thanks to the comprehensive technical possibilities of the EcoCompact® II, flexibility in stretch film production is guaranteed,” concluded Rauscher.
