Siegwerk achieves ISO certification for carbon calculation and reporting

Siegwerk earns ISO certification for comprehensive carbon footprint transparency and reporting.

Siegwerk has successfully completed a comprehensive carbon audit, resulting in ISO certification for its Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) and Product Carbon Footprint (PCF). TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbH, an accredited verification body, conducted the verification and validation processes.

The audit verified the Partial Product Carbon Footprint of Siegwerk’s inks, coatings, and varnishes, as well as the Corporate Carbon Footprint. The PCF validation confirms compliance with DIN EN ISO 14067:2019 standards, covering stages from raw material extraction to customer delivery. This process included on-site inspections, document reviews, and virtual audits, confirming the accuracy of Siegwerk’s greenhouse gas emissions data from 2020, valid until 2025.

The Corporate Carbon Footprint, covering the years 2020 and 2022, was verified in accordance with ISO 14064-03:2019 and found compliant with ISO 14064-01:2019 and the WRI/WBCSD GHG Protocol Corporate Standard and Scope 3 Standard. This audit included Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, and various categories of Scope 3 emissions such as purchased goods and services, capital goods, fuel- and energy-related activities, transportation, waste, business travel, and employee commuting.

Sarah Mah, Senior Global Sustainability Manager at Siegwerk, stated, “Our commitment to environmental responsibility is unwavering. This ISO certification validates our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint, deliver utmost transparency to our value chain partners, and drive sustainable practices across our operations.”

Siegwerk’s sustainability agenda includes achieving carbon neutrality in its operations by 2025 and reducing Scope 3 emissions by 25% by 2030. The company aims to strategically reduce emissions from its operations and products to limit potential negative impacts in the long term.

Siegwerk remains dedicated to continuous improvement and transparency in its environmental performance.
