Detpak expands Eco-Products® range to South East Asia and Middle East

Detpak introduces Eco-Products to new markets.

Detpak, a South Australian packaging solutions company, has announced the expansion of its Eco-Products range into South East Asia and the Middle East. Previously available only in Australia and New Zealand, this range includes compostable, no-added PFAS sugarcane food service packaging, such as plates, bowls, and containers.

This expansion represents the largest introduction of compostable and no-added PFAS products to these markets by Detpak. Keith Bishop, Detpak’s General Manager of Product and Brand, emphasized that the move is in response to growing consumer demand for sustainable packaging solutions.

“In South East Asia and the Middle East, consumers are increasingly concerned about food waste and packaging disposal,” Bishop stated. “By expanding our product range into these international markets, we aim to promote a more sustainable packaging industry through compostable and plant-based materials, such as our no-added PFAS Vanguard® range.”

The Vanguard range, launched in late 2023, was the first in Australia to offer certified compostable, no-added PFAS sugarcane plates, bowls, and containers. These products are made from renewable, molded sugarcane fiber.

Ian Jacobson, President of Eco-Products, highlighted the significance of the partnership with Detpak. “Globally, both Eco-Products and Detpak are observing similar legislative and consumer trends impacting the packaging landscape. This partnership enables us to meet these evolving sustainability requirements more effectively.”

Jacobson added, “Both businesses focus on delivering innovative and sustainable packaging solutions. Together, we have unmatched reach in identifying and commercializing new solutions to meet the elevated sustainability requirements of the global foodservice packaging market.”

The Vanguard range from Eco-Products uses a proprietary formulation to achieve grease resistance without PFAS. All products in the Eco-Products line are certified compostable under various international standards, including AS 5810 for home compostability and BPI for commercial compostability.

Detpak has been collaborating with US-based Eco-Products since 2021.
