Brewing success in Nigeria expansion

Royal seal: Prince Dapo Abiodun cuts the ribbon

By Elisa Conselvan Nigerian Breweries has commissioned a 5.1bn-naira (AED19million) automated PET bottling line in Ijebu-Ode plant.

Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun commissioned the line, with a capacity to produce 24,000 bottles per hour to world-class safety and quality standards.

Nigerian Breweries MD/CEO Jordi Borrut Bel said the line will ultimately become a central supply and a critical enabler to the company’s plans to export its portfolio.

“The PET line comes at a time of great uncertainty, where the threat of Covid-19 has made many businesses wary of making such huge capital investments,” he said.

But Mr Bel assured the company would continue to invest huge resources to expand its businesses and create jobs for Nigerians.

Prince Dapo Abiodun commended Nigerian Breweries for its generous support to Ogun state particularly amid the pandemic through a N50 million cash donation, provision of a vehicle, PPE and non-alcoholic malt drinks to patients and health workers.

He encouraged the company to continue to partner with Ogun state.

Minister of Industry, Trade & Investment, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, said: “It is strong, reassuring evidence that fruitful opportunities exist in Nigeria’s economy for business growth and expansion, and that exploring these opportunities will add considerable value to the company and the Nigerian economy.”
