Mars Inc has announced it will “evolve its brand identity” for Uncle Ben’s rice products in response to concerns about racial stereotyping following Black Lives Matter protests. Aunt Jemima, a breakfast foods brand owned by Quaker Oats, has also confirmed it is looking to change its logo and name.
Uncle Ben’s said in a statement: “As a global brand, we have a responsibility to take a stand in helping to put an end to racial bias and injustices. “Racism has no place in society. We stand in solidarity with the black community.”
“Now is the right time to evolve the Uncle Ben’s brand, including its visual brand identity. We don’t yet know what the exact changes or timing will be, but we are evaluating all possibilities.”
