PepsiCo announced on 28 September the opening of its first innovation facility in the Middle East.
Equipped with an advanced culinary centre and test laboratories, the DuBiotech facility will enable PepsiCo to tailor its food and beverage brands for distinct, local taste preferences.
“The Dubai facility is a game-changer for our business that we anticipate will fast forward our innovation process throughout the entire region,” said Omar Farid, PepsiCo president for Middle East and Africa.
The facility is the region’s first PepsiCo food and beverage innovation centre and will work with other PepsiCo R&D locations around the world to share insights and best practices.
Jan Weststrate, senior vice-president R&D PepsiCo Asia, Middle East & Africa, said the new centre will allow the firm’s experts continue driving “science, technology and innovation thought leadership”.
The grand opening was attended by Marwan Abdulaziz, executive director of the Dubai Biotechnology and Research Park (DuBiotech).
DuBiotech is a leading Middle East life sciences cluster and a freezone business park that provides the ultimate platform for companies to set up their operations and access the region’s fast-growing, emerging markets.
