Rats exposed to BPA in the research became torpid and jumpy, shunning loud noises and bright lights, according to media reports.

The rodents’ brains also showed an influx of oestrogen, which BPA is believed to mimic.

The study’s authors suggest migraine sufferers steer clear of plastic microwave trays, bottles and office water coolers.

BPA has already been linked be some research to heath problems including obesity, infertility and heart attacks.
