Developed by HH Global with Parkside Flexibles (Europe) Ltd, Lidd uses a two-layer laminated film construction to both seal the product and display marketing information.

Lidd can be used in any environment, ambient/chilled or frozen, on plastic, aluminium or paper/plastic tray combinations, said HH Global.

HH Global has been working with a major food group to introduce Lidd to product lines totalling 100 million+ units per year.

The associated packaging weight reduction is expected to be 600 tons per year, saving nearly $1m per year, said HH Global.

Tony Massey, CMO at HH Global, described Lidd as “a quantum leap in food packaging”.

“By utilising the new solution, very significant savings can be unlocked across all ready meal product ranges,” he said.

“As such, we truly believe that this technology has the potential to revolutionise the food packaging market, worldwide.”

Eradicating a cardboard sleeve from production also enables Lidd to reduce manual handling costs and bottlenecks, said the firm.
