Octal to showcase FFS applications at Interpack

Oman-based clear rigid packaging materials specialist Octal will use the Interpack trade fair, in Dusseldorf on 8-14 May, to highlight convenience food and consumer goods applications for its DPET sheet.

Octal claims its DPET sheet has a 25% lower carbon footprint that traditional APET through requiring 65% less grid electricity to produce.

“Octal is targeting further expansion in the convenience foods sector and consumer goods industry with its high performance DPET sheet,” he said.

“At Interpack, we will be exhibiting our cutting edge products and focus on our capabilities in form fill seal [FFS] markets especially in packaging meat and cheese, poultry, multipack and single serve yogurt cups as well as water cups where our DPET sheet has been successfully applied to the Middle East and North African market.”

Octal is exhibiting at a 360m2 custom-built two-level booth at Interpack, where it has been a major exhibitor since 2008.

The company is also poised to launch a customer support and distribution hub in Rotterdam, which should help drive sales in European markets.

Octal claims to be the world’s largest producer of PET sheet and resin at a single site and to be the world’s leading clear packaging material supplier, with an annual output of almost 1 million tonnes of bottle-grade PET.

As verified by independent researchers Intertek Expert Services, Octal’s DPET sheet uses 65% less grid electricity per kilogram than other polymers, translating to a 25% lower carbon footprint than traditionally produced APET, said Octal.
